Wilder Ray's first camping trip

when I was pregnant, I prayed that even though our life was about to change, it wouldn't change completely. I prayed we'd still be able to do what we love. to hike mountains, catch our dinner, and sleep among trees. I prayed we could raise our child outdoors, unplugged, and unfiltered. because in a world that revolves around smart phones and editing, I want him to know the untouched, the real beauty.
what was created by our Maker, not mankind.

so this weekend, we packed up a little bit more than we normally do and took a little longer to leave the house, but we ventured out with a baby in tow.

it wasn't easy.
it wasn't what I expected.
we were totally  t h o s e  people that brought a baby camping.
but we made it through. and I know it will get easier.

so even though we barely left the tent and I didn't get nearly the amount or type of pictures I had hoped for, here's the reality of taking a two and a half month old camping.

y'all THIS is just the beginning of what it looks like to raise WILDer.

Wilder Ray, I will always remember this trip.
you screaming the entire drive there.
you not sleeping unless you were in my arms.
you not falling asleep until 11 pm.
you waking every hour in the night to feed for 5 minutes.

but then there was...

you waking up at 7 am with a smile on your face.
you and me walking down to the lake and watching the sun come over the mountains.
you playing so nicely in the tent while I funneled my coffee.
you and me taking a two hour nap in the tent under the sunshine while daddy fished.
you sleeping most of the way home.

yes, it wasn't easy, but it was also beautiful in its own way.
just like a good hike.
just like anything that's worth it.
and someday when you're bigger we'll laugh about it...

but for now, we'll just wait to try again until next Summer :)

five on friday

happy Friday friends!

I thought it would be fun to start my first little series on this here blog of mine where I share certain products that I'm currently loving in my new role as mama. as a newbie to this phase of life, I love hearing about other mommy's favorite products and opinions, which is why I thought I'd share mine. whether it's a killer pair of mom jeans or my fave baby wipes, I'll give you the low down on what I can't live without.

Copper Pearl swaddle blankets

these blankets are soft as butter, super stretchy to help get a tight fit and come in the cutest prints.
Wilder won't sleep very long unless he's wrapped up as tight as a cocoon, so finding a good swaddle is key. these swaddles are also available on Amazon Prime!
uhm, sold.

I've said this before, but I'll say it again. this jogger is our life saver. it goes over bumps smoothly, holds up on some pretty tough terrain, and glides really well while jogging. I was skeptical because of its low price point, but it's great quality and I love how easy the car seat snaps in.
sturdy. rugged. inexpensive.
perfect.

this is by far my new favorite tee. I scooped up a couple different colors (and a few of their tanks too!) and find myself throwing them over jeans, shorts, and even workout pants. they're insanely comfortable and cute, which helps me feel like I'm pulling off that laid-back, but put together mom look, ya know!

I've talked about my obsession with Fitness Blender on here before and it's only growing! I tried out their 4 week $10 program to help kick start my post baby weight loss journey and I loved it! I lost about 5 lbs and a few inches on my hips, thighs, and tummy. I love these workouts because there's no BS. it's straight up HARD WORK, which is what it really takes to see results. plus, I'm able to workout from home while baby boy naps.
win win win!

this Lemon Pasta with Chicken + Asparagus recipe

pre baby, I LOVED cooking. now, as a tired new mom, I'm finding it hard to stay motivated to be in the kitchen. so I've been posting more to my Pinterest board in hopes that I'll get inspired. this dish looks delicious and easy, so I'm planning on whipping it up this weekend!

there ya have it, my current faves! hope you all have a great weekend!
